At a press conference, representatives of that federation warned that, if immediate attention is not drawn to media’s financial problems, none of them will remain active in the country in the next six months.

The media have become very vulnerable after the political shift in the country in mid August 2021, and have faced economic problems and lack of access to information, according to AJMOF.

Some media platforms are currently closed, and reporters are out of work. Some journalists have moved on to other jobs, but others have not found any employment opportunities. They are facing hardships and cannot provide for their families, AJMOF member Hujatullah Mujaddedi said.

In a statement, AJMOF urged the Ministry of Information and Culture to resume the activities of the committee that is investigating violations against the media and help reporters to have access to information.
