Romania’s Interior Minister, Lucian Bode, said that 10,624 individuals arrived, and more than 3,600 of them continued on to other nearby countries, Bucharest radio reported Friday.

According to Bode, most of the Ukrainians are in the northern regions of Romania, in the border counties of Suceava, Botosani, Maramures and Galati.

The minister said that, in the next few days his country will have to face a possible uncontrolled arrival of refugees from Ukraine, who are leaving their country after the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in the east of that nation.

Moscow reported that it is carrying out such an operation to protect the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and preserve Russia’s security in the face of the threat posed by the warmongering policy of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and its projected eastward expansionism.
