Russian troops shot down important military equipment in Ukraine

Moscow, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) The Russian armed forces on Friday shot down five fighter planes, a helicopter and five drones during the military operation launched on Thursday in the territory of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of this country reported.

According to Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, 18 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, seven multiple rocket launcher systems, 41 units of special military vehicles and five warships were also destroyed.

He noted that more than 150 Ukrainian army servicemen have laid down their arms and surrendered during fighting in Donbass.

This Friday, the enemy opened fire 139 times on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic using multiple rocket launchers, 152 and 122-millimeter artillery gun, 120 and 82-millimeter mortars, firing 1,715 shells on areas in 34 settlements of that territory, Deputy Head of the DPR People’s Militia Eduard Basurin said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on Telegram that 137 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the last 24 hours and 316 others were wounded, according to preliminary data.
