BNC expresses condolences over notable painter’s death

Ernesto-Rancano-Viengsay-V-300x200
Havana, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) has lamented the death of outstanding Cuban painter Ernesto Rancaño, whose work remains closely linked to the company due to joint work and close ties of friendship.

Dismayed over his early death, we remember his participation in the exhibition “Pinceles en punta” in 2000, with a work on the ballet shoes of Viengsay Valdes, prima ballerina and current director, the BNC stated on digital platforms.

That work is in the Collection of the National Museum of Dance and, and for the “Alicia Alonso Dances Here Tonight” exhibition, held in Havana and New York, Rancaño made two versions of the piece entitled “La absoluta.”

In its message of condolences, the institution expressed admiration for that great artist and recalled that his last collaboration with the important ballet cast was a stage designer for the Alicia Alonso Centennial Gala in 2020.
