With this, Dhaka approved the proposal of ratifying the Agreement 138 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) that restricts the employment of teenagers under 15 years of age, The Daily Star newspaper reported.

The approval occured during a regular meeting virtually chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Cabinet Secretary KhandkerAnwarul Islam said that ILO Agreement 138 was inked by 173 countries and highlighted that it generally requires 15 years to complete the basic education and therefore anyone under that age can be employed.

The official added that minors cannot be employed in any hazardous or dangerous work under any circumstances.

Children cannot participate in activities that can cause accidents or deaths and even if they are employed they cannot be treated as adults, he assured.
