Regarding the Omicron BA.2 subvariant, the national director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, explained that it is very contagious, but studies are being performed in several parts of the world to obtain more details about it.
The expert showed evidence that Cuba is making progress in the control of Covid-19 after reporting a decrease in the number of Covid-19 cases.
It added that for five consecutive days no one has died in Cuba as a result of the disease.
In a televised press conference, Dr. Duran informed that 2,669 patients are currently ill in Cuba, 2,637 are clinically stable, while 32 are in intensive care, eight are in a critical condition and 24 are in serious condition.
He explained that in the last 24 hours, 475 new cases and no deaths were reported, so the total number of cases in Cuba is 1,69,862 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, and 8,494 people have died.
