Japan confirms cyber-attack on Toyota´s supplier

Tokyo, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) The Japanese government confirmed a cyber-attack on a local supplier of the automobile company Toyota that forced the stoppage in the manufacture of automobiles for a day.

In this sense, government´s spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno corroborated a cyber-attack on parts consignee Kojima Industries, but stressed that the case is still under investigation and refused to give more details.

He also warned that the risk of cyber-attacks is increasing due to the current situation and called on companies to strengthen their cybersecurity measures.

Yesterday, local media reported that Kojima Industries suffered a Ransomware attack.

The company detected a threatening message on Saturday, before realizing that its server was infected by a virus.

Toyota said that due to the problem it stopped the manufacture in the 28 lines at its 14 Japanese plants, but later, it resumed operations.

Toyota Motor Corp. then said it will resume local production as of Wednesday.

Kojima Industries Corp. supplies plastic parts and electronic components to Toyota.
