Luanda, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) South Korean business people have explored new business opportunities in Angola, mainly in the fields of power generation, shipbuilding and seawater desalination, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to Jornal de Angola newspaper, a South Korean delegation visited Port Amboim, the capital of Cuanza Sul province, on Monday.

The site chosen was the Port Amboim Naval Shipyard (PAENAL), as it has the infrastructure to ensure possible investments, stated the report, which designated the initiative to the Africa-Korea Economic Development Association, headed by its secretary general SiWoo Chung.

According to the source, the entity is interested in opening a floating nuclear power plant to generate hydrogen-based energy, a combined cycle gas plant and a shipyard for the construction of medium and small-sized ships. Angolan oil company Sonangol participated in the talks through a team from the research and development center, headed by Vladimir Machado, who considered the advantages of the outlined proposals, Jornal de Angola stated.
