Germany lifts Covid-19 restrictions for travelers

Berlin, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) The German Government on Wednesday announced the elimination of access restrictions to the country for travelers coming from areas so far considered of "high risk" for Covid-19.

According to the Robert Koch Virology Institute (RKI), the ability of the Omicron variant to cause severe disease progression is much lower compared to previously dominant mutations.

For this reason, as of March 3, travelers coming from Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela and many European countries will be able to enter the country under the same conditions as those from the rest of the world.

Thus, the ten-day quarantine after arrival was lifted, but a negative test for the disease will be required five days after arrival in the country.

For people over 12 years old, the obligation to present a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19, or a negative test for the disease, will be maintained.

So far, 76.3 percent of the German population (63.5 million people) has been immunized against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes Covid-19, nearly all of them have received the full vaccination course, the RKI informed.
