The operations are taking place off the coast of Shanghai (east), where the ship is buried under the seabed and at a depth of 5.5 meters.
The ship is called Ancient Yangtse Wreck Number 2 and, according to archaeological research, is about 38.5 meters long and 7.8 meters wide.
It was a merchant ship that plied the seas during the reign of Emperor Tongzhi (1862-1875) of the Qing Dynasty and its 31 cabins are loaded with cultural relics such as porcelain made in Jingdezhen, known worldwide as the “porcelain capital”.
