By trying to gag Russian media, large companies have decided to restrict access to information for millions of citizens in the world, arbitrarily labeling journalists and limiting access to services and information and communication technologies, the diplomat wrote on Twitter.

He added that paradoxically, those same companies support the dissemination of fake news, the manipulation of information and the proliferation of discriminatory and hateful messages.

Rodriguez said that the hypocrisy of the powerful who move all available weapons for their own benefit is too much.

European Commission Presudent Ursula von der Leyen pointed out this week that the European Union was developing tools to suppress the broadcasts of Russia Today and Sputnik. The decision to block the transmissions of the two outlets was announced later.

Instagram and YouTube blocked all the accounts of Russia Today in 27 European countries, and Google did the same with YouTube.

The signal has also been blocked in Latin American countries such as Peru and Uruguay, a decision that has been met with protests from politicians, activists and trade unions.
