Al-Ahram newspaper quoted the speech by Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Osama Abdel-Khalek, who warned about the economic crisis the world is going through.
While he endorsed a UN General Assembly resolution that criticized Moscow, the diplomat stressed that Cairo “rejects the approach of employing economic sanctions outside the framework of the mechanisms of the multilateral international system.”
Similar actions in the past caused serious humanitarian effects, the official recalled.
Russia launched a military operation on Thursday, February 24, after recognizing the independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic, whose authorities requested help to repel the aggression from Kiev, which it has been waging against the population of those territories for eight years.
