A press release from the entity specified that 19 operations have been carried out up to the first days of March, 11 of which were executed by sea with the U.S. Coast Guard, which has returned 345 people attempting to leave Cuba illegally by sea.

The information added that the other eight operations have taken place by air , six from Mexico with 473 persons and two from the Bahamas with 43.

Authorities repeatedly stress the danger involved in this irregular migration in which people travel in life-threatening conditions and are exposed to kidnapping, rape, extortion and other crimes.

Cuba has always denounced the criminal policy that US has developed towards the Island regarding this topic, which has encouraged the irregular migration.
