Peshawar Police Fhief Muhammad Ijaz Khan confirmed the death toll during Friday’s prayer and said it was a suicide bombing, The Express Tribune reported.

According to initial reports, two attackers tried to enter the mosque and fired at police officers on the scene, killing one gendarme, while another uniformed officer was seriously wounded.

The explosion inside the mosque followed the shooting incident, he added.

Upon learning of the incident, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the suicide bombing, ordered the authorities to provide medical treatment to those injured and asked for an investigation report from the concerned authorities.
