In statements to Tass news agency, the parliamentarian said that once the the Russain army´s objectives of “liberation of the Kiev regime” are met, both nations will regain the historical ties.

“They are fighting for our country and citizens´ security, for the peace in the Donbass region. For Ukraine, which free from the antipopular Kiev regime and neo-nazis, will again become a country with which we will be connected by frienship and cooperation ties”, Matvienko assured.

The senior official added that the military operation, particularly, is being carried out in order that “a threat to Russia will never come from the Ukrainian territory”.

However, on February 28, in a phone conversation with French president Emmanuel Macron, the Russian president gave two other conditions for a diplomatic solution: Crimea´s recognition as Russian territory and Ukrainian neutrality guarantees.
