According to a release from the Cabinet press office, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, approved the recommendation of the Economic Committee which includes suspending the export of garlic, onions, potatoes, butter, oils, eggs, among other products for a period of two months.
The decision to ban the export of vegetables of all kinds, wheat and its products, and poultry was also postponed.
The Syrian government had held an extraordinary meeting during which it approved a package of measures aimed at managing and rationalizing the stockpile of basic materials and hydrocarbons and controlling their distribution in order to ensure the availability of these products on the market.
These measures are unavoidable at this stage and very necessary in view of the accelerated increase in prices on the world market and also the transportation costs of these supplies, the government stated.
