Soldiers and police used tear gas and rubber bullets abundantly to disperse the protestors. A sequence of similar demonstrations have been going on for months in this capital and other cities against the Sovereign Transitional Council (CST) led by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan.
Unlike on other occasions, no source provided details of deaths, injuries or arrests during the street clashes, which since their beginning in October last year have resulted in 90 people killed and more injured.
The efforts by the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for Sudan, Volker Perthes, remain stalled by the refusal of the CST to set a date to call general elections and for the return to a constitutional government.
