Ukrainian refugees in the EU exceed two million

Geneva, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, reported that the number of Ukrainian refugees in the European Union (EU) today exceeded two million.

Through his account on the Twitter social network Grandi also communicated that he visited Romania, Moldova and Poland, three countries bordering Ukraine, which host a large number of these migrants.

The exodus takes place in the midst of a disinformation campaign implemented by the West to distort the objective of the special military operation that Russia deployed in the Donbass under the argument of disabling the war infrastructure and protecting the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, according to the Kremlin.

Yesterday, the bloc’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, said that the speed with which this figure was reached is a record since World War II and called for support with “more funds, more reception capacity, more food and more educational resources” to the destination nations in view of the “significant flow that is expected”.

On the other hand, the escalation of sanctions against Moscow is increasing, the peaceful solution, demanded by the international community, seems distant, and the exodus of refugees is reaching unprecedented numbers.
