Venezuelan president ratifies commitment to women’s rights

Caracas, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday ratified the Venezuelan Government's commitment to guaranteeing women's protection and ensuring their fundamental rights.

On his Twitter account, the head of State congratulated Venezuelan female leaders and praised the women’s role in the country’s economic and social development, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

“You are the fundamental pillar of the revolutionary process and the protagonists of the country’s social life. The Revolution will continue guaranteeing your protection and fundamental rights,” the president tweeted.

Maduro also celebrated the seventh anniversary of the creation of the National Union of Women (Unamujer), “a feminist force that defends the right to life, equality and dignity of the heroines of the country,” he said.

“Women, count on my love and permanent support in the daily task of building a family, community and socialist homeland,” reiterated the president.
