Cuban FM supports development that corrects inequalities

Havana, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Wednesday supported the promotion of a development model that corrects inequalities in the Latin American region.

In a message on Twitter, the head of Cuban diplomacy said that the study released at the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, which met in Costa Rica, reflects that an insufficient trend continues to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in 68 percent of all 111 goals.

Rodriguez urged to focus efforts on a paradigm of sustainable, inclusive development that corrects the big inequalities within and between countries.

The report pointed out that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation worsened in Latin America and Caribbean countries in meeting the United Nations SDG and the 2030 Agenda.

The study, promoted by the SDG Center of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), added that this is the first decrease in the region since the countries adopted the 2030 SDG and Agenda in 2015.

The document urged the nations of the region to establish collaboration frameworks so that the purposes go beyond guidelines and become concrete actions.
