The information circulating on Wednesday was made public on the account of TeleSur reporter Madelein Garcia, who quoted official sources and, according to reports, one of the detainees is Gustavo Adolfo Cardenas, a former executive at Petroleum Corporation (CITGO), a branch of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) in the United States.
The other one is Jose Alberto Fernandez, a Cuban-American arrested on the border with Colombia in February.
On Monday, the president confirmed contacts with Washington were made to develop a positive agenda based on mutual respect and recognition.
At a meeting with the Council of Vice Presidents and the nation’s political and military high command, Maduro said that a meeting with an official US delegation was held on Saturday.
The head of State added that the meeting unfolded in a very diplomatic, respectful and cordial atmoshere, in which the parties addressed topics of interest in order to draw up an agenda for the future.
