Cuba and Turkey interested in strengthening relations

Ankara, Mar 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Turkey today expressed their interest in promoting relations during a meeting between the island's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Anayansi Rodríguez and the host Vice Chancellor Sedat Onal.

The parties reiterated the good state of relations and the interest in continuing to develop them, states a press release from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Rodríguez heads the Cuban delegation that will participate in the Second Diplomacy Forum in Antalya, Turkey, to be held from March 11 to 13.

The deputy foreign minister will develop a bilateral agenda in parallel that includes meetings with the authorities of the host country related to foreign relations, tourism, culture, energy, cooperation and legislation.

She, adds the press release, that the Caribbean diplomat will also hold meetings with foreign ministers and deputies invited to participate in the forum.

The meeting is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and has the purpose of generating debates on key aspects of current diplomacy, understood as a way to peacefully resolve international conflicts.

In June last year, during the inter-ministerial political consultations, Cuba and Turkey expressed their willingness to strengthen political dialogue, as well as promote and deepen economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations.

In that meeting, both parties expressed interest in deepening ties in areas such as sports, culture, health and education, in view of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations, in 2022.
