According to Russian Foreign Ministry, the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member nations, capitalizing on their absolute majority in the Committee of Ministers, drew up a policy to destroy such an international body and space common to European humanitarian and legal life.

Moscow will not lend itself to turning that platform into space “for Western supremacy and NATO´s narcissism as well as the obedient EU.”

The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy stated the Council of Europe has long ceased to be the most important international platform for equal dialogue to a puppet structure, used “to promote a raging Russophobia”.

Mr. Tolstoy recalled that Moscow’s representation to EC tried to speak “about the rights of Russians in Ukraine, the right of Donbass inhabitants to live without bombings, and about the rights of Crimea inhabitants to free choice and access into the water.”

As stated by the TASS news agency, Russia was not the first to raise the question of withdrawing from EC, because on February 25, the Committee of Ministers, at the initiative of Ukraine and Poland, started off a procedure to call off its membership.
