At the beginning of talks at the Kremlin with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, the Russian president recalled that the former Soviet Union was affected by many sanctions for decades, but it developed itself and made great success.
The head of State noted that there have always been attempts to limit Russia’s development, to contain it, even now, but on a larger scale at the moment.
He added that these measures are seriously hitting the Russian economy, according to a statement from the presidential press service.
However, he stressed that, as a result of the current situation, both countries will acquire more competences, more opportunities to feel independent, self-sufficient and will benefit as in previous years.
About the latest events, Lukashenko said that Ukraine would have attacked Belarus if Russia had not launched a preventive offensive. Therefore, Belarus did not unleash this war, and its conscience is clear.
According to the Belarusian president, people are gradually beginning to see the truth.
