Cuba establishes daylight saving time today

Havana, Mar 13 (Prensa Latina) Starting today, on Sunday, March 13, daylight saving time has come into force in Cuba, where clocks were advanced one hour.

This strategy is an international practice, with a great impact on energy savings, said the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which called on the population to use only the necessary electricity.

According to experts, this measure also contributes to reducing the electricity bill for the benefit of consumers.

Its application allows a significant reduction of the maximum demand during the rush hour, since cooking does not coincide to a large extent with lighting.

The usual time change was implemented worldwide 1974 to make better use of solar radiation and contribute to saving hydrocarbons and other fuels used in power generation, the National Office for the Control of the Rational Use of Energy said.
