“On the 16th anniversary of the UN Human Rights Council, we reiterate the need to join political wills to fight for the interests of the peoples. Count on Venezuela to strengthen this organization in the defense of the most precious values of humanity”, Maduro said on his Twitter account.
The Venezuelan president recently denounced the politicization of the international human rights system in favor of the hegemonic interests of the United States and its Western allies.
Speaking at the end of February before the 49th session of the Human Rights Council, held in Geneva, Switzerland, the head of State warned about the pretensions of imposing formulas of judicial colonialism on sovereign countries through this multilateral organization.
Moreover, the Venezuelan president underscored the constructive and collaborative spirit of the relations with UN High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet, whose office has a team in this South American country.
In this regard, the president spoke Monday about a videoconference held with this UN high official, during which they reviewed the assistance and cooperation relations between both parties.
“We reviewed issues of joint work, such as progress in the fight against Covid-19 and the willingness to increase technical assistance to ensure justice and peace for the people,” the dignitary said.
