Cuba’s Arley Calderon fell just short of the gold medal in each of the three movements in the 62 kilogram category and closely watched how Colombia’s Habib de las Casas celebrated.

Like de las Casas, his compatriot, Miguel Suarez, won the gold medals in the 55 kg category, and was escorted by his compatriot, Jostyn Torralvo, while Venezuela’s Winder Alejandro Sanchez won the bronze medals.

For her part, Venezuela’s Rosielis Coromoto finished at the top of the 45-kg division, ahead of Puerto Rico’s Adamaris Santiago and Guatemala’s Silvana Gonzalez (57, 79, 136).

In this category, Cuba’s Franchesca Miledis Simon won the silver medal in the snatch, but she failed in all three attempts in the rebound, leaving her with no chance of winning a medal.
