Tariffs fell in January and February due to an 8.7-percent increase, according to the Workers Statistical Index (IET, in Spanish) of the Metropolitan University.

The price hike resulted from higher food and beverage prices and the impact of the war in Ukraine on European goods, the source added.

Inflation in 2021 maintained a accelerated trend until late last year, but there was a clear rise in employment and salaries in the national economy, according to the IET.
