In an exchange with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, the President indicated that Lebanon needs not only humanitarian aid, since achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires first investing in people, especially women and youth.
Michel Aoun commented to Mohammed on the incidences generated by the waves of Syrian citizens, displaced from their lands since 2011 and the lack of a solution from the international community.
For her part, the chair of the United Nations Development Group reiterated the commitment to continue supporting Lebanon in progress in all fields, she also highlighted the preparations for the May 15 parliamentary elections.
At the meeting, President Aoun conveyed his greetings to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who visited the country on December 19 to closely examine the situation.
