Ukrainian forces kill two civilians in Donetsk

Moscow, Mar 16 (Prensa Latina) Authorities from the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) have confirmed on Wednesday that due to a new attack by Ukrainian troops, two civilians were killed and 11 were wounded.

On its Telegram account, the DPR representation to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination on the ceasefire stated that of those people, four live in the territories liberated by their armed forces.

Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov, stated in the latest report on the special military operation that the troops from Donetsk have so far taken control of the settlements in Mikhailovka, Stavka, Botmanka, Vasilievka and are fighting for Verkhnetoretskoye.

The military commander also said that the forces from the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) are continuing their offensive, and the battle is taking place in the northwest, northeast and east of the city of Severodonetsk.

Konashenkov noted that over the last 24 hours, aviation and air defense assets of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down two Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft near Chernogov, one MiG-29 near Novaya Bykovka and four unmanned aerial vehicles.

Since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, the armed forces have destroyed a total of 111 aircraft, 68 helicopters, 160 unmanned aerial vehicles and 159 surface-to-air missile systems. According to President Vladimir Putin, one of the fundamental objectives of this operation is the “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.
