In his daily morning press conference, the president referred to the European Parliament when reporting on violence in Mexico and the hunt by organized crime of journalists who denounce them, but those legislators blame his government and made a statement on the matter, organized by the far-right wing.
The Mexican president pointed out, “I had just seen a message from a Venezuelan opposition leader who fled and was welcomed and protected by the conservative Popular Party in Spain and became a legislator of the European Parliament, a man who was a promoter of violence in his country.”
There he is and his statements against Mexico are published on the front page of the (Mexican) newspaper Reforma. We replied to the European Parliament and look what this gentleman, now an MEP, says, that it was a regrettable response from Mexico, unworthy of a head of State.
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador did not reply, but rather offended the MEPs, according to Mr. Lopez, and I even laughed at the case, the president said.
