The National Electoral Observatory, a non-governmental organization, assured that it will supervise the process to guarantee it is free, fair and peaceful.
The call for elections was made by Electoral Commissioner Mohamed Konneh at a press conference in Freetown, the capital, on Monday.
For the first time, the voting for the head of State and the election of parliamentarians and local council people will coincide.
Voters’ registration will take place from September 3 to October 4.
President Julius Maada Bio must run for reelection in just over a year’s time.
He will fight for the second and last five-year term, according to Sierra Leone’s Constitution.
