The aforementioned statement was ratified by members of the province’s Technical Advisory Council, who also noted the strategic role of this consultative group, which studies and issues recommendations for decision-making based on the application of science, technology and innovation.
During the latest meeting of the members of the Group, chaired by Holguin Governor Julio Cesar Estupiñan, the urgency of the integration of all sectors to achieve the necessary take-off of the territory’s potentialities was stressed.
In that regard, Estupiñan mentioned, among the province’s advantages to achieve that goal, the local Higher Education system, which is organized in three universities, an equal number of branches and the Municipal University Centers.
He also lauded the work of ten research and extension entities, among them the Provincial Sugarcane Research Station and the Agroforestry Experimental Station in Velasco.
Other relevant centers are the Agricultural Machinery Development Center, the Provincial Meteorological Center and the Hereditary Ataxias Research and Rehabilitation Center.
