Conflict in Ukraine is still the focus of UN debates

ONU, sanciones, efectos, debates
United Nations, Mar 18 (Prensa Latina) The conflict in Ukraine is still the focus of the debates at the United Nations Security Council, although a vote on a draft resolution proposed by Russia about the issue will not be held on Friday.

On Thursday, Moscow’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia announced this decision and accused the Western countries of orchestrating a campaign of “unprecedented pressure” and twisting the will by some member states of the multilateral organization.

In addition, the Russian diplomat requested another emergency meeting of the Security Council to deal again with the issue of the biological laboratories in Ukraine, apparently financed by the United States.

The aim is to present more documents obtained in the course of the military operation on Ukrainian territory, Nebenzia said on Thursday during an emergency meeting of the Council.

On the other hand, the Russian ambassador said that the delegations of other countries to the United Nations are facing pressure and economic blackmail not to support the draft resolution that Moscow will present this Friday, although he desisted from submitting it to a vote.

Russia launched on February 24 what President Vladimir Putin called a special military operation in the Ukrainian autonomous region of Donbass, after the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic requested help to repel the aggression from the nationalist forces.
