This order came after a petition by the Federal Police and was sent to those distributors and enterprises, which will have to adopt mechanisms after being notified by the National Telecommunications Agency.

De Moraes ruled out this because Telegram did not comply with judicial orders, for example, the blocking of accounts that disseminate misinformation.

Local media outlets reported that the founder of Telegram, Russian Pavel Durov, apologized to the STF and explained the blocking ordered by one of its judges was due to a communication problem.

“It seems there was a problem between the e-mails of our corporate departments at and Brazil’s Supreme Court,” Durov wrote on his channel of this platform.

He said that “on behalf of our team I apologize to Brazil’s Supreme Court for our negligence.”

He added that part of the Supreme Court’s requests were misplaced in an old general-purpose e-mail box., but they have been already located and processed by this enterprise.
