Joe Biden approval rating plummets to 40% – Reuters/Ipsos poll finds

Washington, March 22 (Prensa Latina) U.S. President Joe Biden's public approval rating dropped to a new low of 40%, a clear warning sign for the Blue Party as a result of domestic inflation and his response to the Ukraine conflict, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion.

The national poll found that 54% of Americans disapprove of Biden´s job performance as his Blue Party is currently seeking to retain control of Congress in upcoming Nov. 8 elections.

Joe Biden’s popularity started off by dropping in mid-August 2021 as Covid-19 deaths began to surge and the U.S. military faced a chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Even though recent investigations showed a favorable reception from the Americans to Washington’s attack on Moscow for its military operation in Ukraine, the same sanctions imposed by the White House on the Eurasian country curb US president´s approval.

The Joe Biden administration, in an effort to cripple the Russian economy, sanctioned several Russian banks, revoked special trade status, cut off certain imports, attacked oligarchs and officials, and banned the purchase of Russian oil.

Gasoline prices reached more than $4 per gallon in recent weeks, and such a spike, along with other goods, is likely to pose a hurdle for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.

The Ukraine conflict, exacerbated as analysts point out by the role of the US government and NATO, represents another extreme challenge internally for Joe Biden, who took office amid the worst public health crisis in 100 years.
