These systems will be developed in the agroforestry modules that are part of the project Increasing climate resilience of households and rural communities through the rehabilitation of productive landscapes in selected localities of the Republic of Cuba (IRES), also the FAO office in Havana reported.
IRES is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture with technical assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and is the first program on this island financed by the Green Climate Fund.
It is currently working in seven of Cuba’s municipalities vulnerable to the effects of climate change: Los Arabos, in the province of Matanzas; Santo Domingo, Quemado de Güines and Corralillo, in the province of Villa Clara; and Jobabo, Amancio Rodríguez and Colombia, in the province of Las Tunas.
The workshop will also address the experiences of agroforestry systems in the world, climate change in the area of intervention and water use in the municipalities linked to the project.
