The clashes happened out after militants of the extremist group attacked facilities at the capital´s airport and areas near foreign diplomatic missions, reports said.
After claiming responsibility for the attacks, Al-Shabab said in a statement that, in the latter case, it was aimed at attacking Western embassies, the digital portal Hiiraan.com reported.
Witnesses to the violence reported that “today we heard bursts of gunfire in Mogadishu”.
The new events take place days after the extremist group Al-Shabab (The Youth, in Arabic) assaulted with firearms and bombs facilities in Mogadishu and temporarily captured cities in central Somalia, which, according to diplomatic sources, gives rise to presumptions of its strengthening.
