Egypt warns on religious radicalism and Islamophobia

EGipto, radicalismo, islamofobia
Cairo, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) Terrorism and religious radicalism, as well as Islamophobia are some of the problems and challenges Muslim countries are currently facing, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said.

Addressing a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Islamabad, Pakistan, Shoukry welcomed the UN decision to designate March 15 as International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

On March 15, 2019, an extremist murdered 51 Muslims in a shooting at two mosques in New Zealand.

Quoted by Mena news agency, the Egyptian foreign minister considered that climate change is another serious problem that not only the Islamic nations but also humanity must face.

He also affirmed that there will only be a solution to the Palestinian problem with the establishment of a State based on pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also advocated for talks to bury the crisis in Libya, which has two prime ministers at loggerheads for the post.

The holding of the presidential and parliamentary elections in that country and the departure of all foreign forces and mercenaries present in the country are fundamental to achieve the national stability, he said.
