Caracas, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) At least 16,000 firearms have been rendered useless as a result of the Disarmament Plan promoted by the Venezuelan Government to guarantee peace in the nation.

On his Twitter account, Remigio Ceballos, Sectoral Vice-President for Citizen Security, reported that the operations to rescue the weapons are framed in the first point of the Great Mission Quadrants of Peace and it complies with the provisions of the Disarmament Law.

The high-ranking official detailed that white, short and other non-industrialized weapons have been rendered useless, and he also expressed that after their legal process, some of them will be assigned to the Citizen Security bodies and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, for the integral defense of the nation.

“Generating Security and Peace, by strengthening our Police Corps, promoting prevention as a fundamental element of a transversal public policy that prioritizes sports, food, education and culture of our #PuebloAlegreYEnPaz,” Ceballos tweeted.

As part of those actions is also the Voluntary Disarmament Plan devised by the Executive to encourage the spontaneous putting down of weapons and ammunition that may be used or represent some kind of risk that violates the life and integrity of people.
