Other high-ranking officials of the organization and state officials are participating in the important meeting, which is attended by 200 delegates from the 13 municipalities of this territory and other guests.

“We will be there, evaluating the work of the party militancy in the province during a challenging period,” Diaz-Canel said on his official Twitter account.

An official communication from the presidency of the nation praised the hard-working and courageous people of this demarcation, “who knew how to come out, not without painful losses, from those hard days of pandemic.”

This is the fifth territorial assembly of the PCC that takes place on the island, since previously those of Pinar del Río and Artemisa (west), and Villa Clara and Cienfuegos (center) were held.

The meetings follow up on the ideas, concepts and guidelines emanating from the VIII Congress of the PCC, held in April 2021.
