In his Twitter account, the president made reference to a meeting held with the secretary general of this organization, Mariano Jabonero, in which he thanked him for his contribution to the education, science and culture´s promotion in Ibero-America.

The day before, Cuba and the OEI signed an agreement that will make possible the opening of a permanent office of the intergovernmental organization in Havana.

On this occasion Jabonero assured that this was one of his aspirations since he took office four years ago, because, he assured, that the Cuban government has been an active, committed and responsible participant in the cooperation of this organization and has supported the Ibero-American solidarity.

He highlighted that the agreement responds to the history of nearly 40 years of work with Cuba and is an opportunity to grow and work more and better in a committed and close way.

For her part, Ena Elsa Velázquez, Minister of Education, expressed that this moment will mark a new stage with the organization, while consolidating and expanding cooperation.
