On its Twitter account, the Foreign Ministry celebrated the ties that have united both countries since March 26, 1974, a date that served as a starting point to develop positive bilateral exchanges for mutual benefit.

Last year, a group of 159 healthcare professionals from Cuba arrived in Gabon to join the Henry Reeve Brigade that renders its services in the African country.

Other important moments in bilateral relations were the two visits to Cuba by President Ali Bongo Ondimba in September 2012 and July 2017.

In his first visit, the Gabonese president and Army General Raul Castro decided to consolidate diplomatic relations between the two countries with the opening of resident embassies in Havana and Libreville.
