Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodriguez, National Coordinator for Celac, headed the Cuban delegation that called to consolidate the multilateral organization’s ties with China and the European Union and incorporate stakeholders such as the African Union, the Association of Southeast Asian States and other developing countries.

According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, Cuba reiterated its support for Celac, a genuinely Latin American and Caribbean integration forum, and to the Republic of Argentina, which holds the pro tempore presidency of the Community in 2022.

The organization stated on its Twitter account that the 34th Meeting of National Coordinators had very valuable exchanges of opinions with the members that enriched the proposed schedule of activities for 2022.

According to the information, the main areas of work this year will be productive recovery, science, health care, gender, food, culture, institutionalism and external linkages.

Celac is an intergovernmental mechanism for dialogue and political agreement, which permanently includes 33 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean.

In January 2022, the 12th Meeting of Foreign Ministers was held in Mexico, which handed over the pro tempore presidency of the Community to Argentina.
