On Twitter, FANB Strategic Operational Commander Domingo Hernandez announced the operation and posted a video that shows the deployment of soldiers in the area.
Some of the confiscated materials were aluminized gunpowder, which is one of the components for the production of highly volatile explosives and a barrel containing RQ rifle magazines used by the Colombian army, the commander explained.
“FANB is carrying out the ‘Turn Faces’ operation where 76,500 square km will be inspected in situ to eradicate the invasive plague of Colombian narcoterrorists and their collaborators by exercising our constitutional sovereignty; we act with deeds not words or shams!,” Hernandez tweeted.
These actions are part of the “Vuelvan Caras” 2022 Bolivarian Shield Operation, deployed on the plains with a large contingent of soldiers from all military groups, including the Bolivarian Militia, in order to expel the Tancol and neutralize their actions in Venezuelan territory.
Since early this year, this high military command has intensified operations in that region to locate camps, drug laboratories of the irregulars and demine the area.
For the past few weeks, the FANB have hit paramilitaries hard, destroyed several camps and even captured some of its members.
