The head of the Agro-alimentary Department of the political organism presided over a plenary meeting with producers and leaders of this central province, where he urged to rescue the productive potentialities taking advantage of the experiences of the producers of the territory.

He warned that the country is not in conditions to ensure the basic food -feed-, now we have to think about Cuba, about our people, about social consumption.

For this, he added, it is time to start recovering pork production by producing our own food in agricultural areas.

As a whole, he insisted, we have to respond to the challenge of rescuing production by changing the herd feeding matrix based on the breeding experience of the breeders.

He analyzed that in the last two years the production of pork meat has decreased due to the cessation of feed imports because of the country’s financial limitations, the blockade and the harassment measures of the United States.

The participants discussed other issues such as the recovery of the racial pig program, the provision of land and seeds for food production.
