On Friday, a group of oil depots in the town of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, were attacked by two Ukrainian Armed Forces helicopters that flew in at low altitude.
The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that there were no deaths or injuries and that all residents in the area near the depots were evacuated, he said.
The total area damaged by the flames is 1,200 square meters. Two diesel tanks were affected and are leaking fuel, while firefighters were cooling five others to prevent the fire from spreading, the Ministry of Emergencies informed.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that it does not create “comfortable conditions for the continuation of negotiations” between Moscow and Kiev.
