Cuban Foreign Ministry pays tribute to foreign service martyr

Havana, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Foreign Ministry on Monday recalled the terrorist attack on Sergio Armando Perez, who was killed 50 years ago in an explosion at Cuba's Business Office in Montreal, Canada.

On Twitter, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced the attack, which made a 25-year-old man a foreign service martyr.

On April 4, 1972, an attack with plastic explosives destroyed Cuba’s Business Office in Montreal and injured seven other people.

The Joven Cuba and Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil (DRE) terrorist groups claimed responsibility for planting the bomb.

According to historical documents, the attack was perpetrated by Juan Felipe de la Cruz, who died at a hotel in Paris, France, months later when a bomb he was preparing to blow the Cuban Embassy in that city exploded.

Cuba’s foreign service has a total of 11 martyrs, who were violently killed by terrorist groups in different parts of the world.
