Both institutions thus joined the celebrations on the 60th anniversary of the Young Communist League (UJC) and the 61st anniversary of the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization (OPJM).
In its letter, the president of the National People’s Power Assembly, Esteban Lazo, noted the role of new generations in the different sectors of the country and the defense of revolutionary principles.
Lazo highlighted the work of the members of this political organization in the fight against Covid-19, in Cuba’s scientific development and the transformation of vulnerable neighborhoods and communities.
He also spoke about the importance of the role of young people in the construction of socialism, popular involvement and control.
Since January, the UJC leaders have undertaken a comprehensive program of initiatives with a new generations’ special approach to Cuba’s revolutionary history.
The UJC was founded by Fidel Castro on April 4, 1962, and the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization was created a year before, on that very same day.
