Obstacles in trial of former de facto president in Bolivia denounced

La Paz, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the Association of Victims of the Senkata Massacre in Bolivia, Gloria Quisbeth, on Monday deplored the stalling of a trial of former de facto President Jeanine Añez for the violence that characterized her term in office.

“So far, she is not being tried for the deaths during her government,” the activist said regarding the violence unleashed in November 2019, after the signing of Decree 4078, with an outcome of nearly 40 deaths and hundreds of people wounded.

Quisbeth expressed “sorrow” to the relatives of at least 36 victims in Sacaba, Cochabamba; Senkata, department of La Paz, and Yapacani, in Santa Cruz.

“There is no trial of responsibilities, there are no suspects, no detainees, and those responsible for the deaths have not been identified,” she lamented and insisted that these crimes must be clarified as an obligation of the State.
